The late options fall off a cliff too — only 60+ Friday venues run a window past ten, against 100+ on a Tuesday. Friday is the weakest weekday
500+ venues, which puts Friday below every other weekday including Monday. The drop is sharper at the back end of the evening than the front: 60+ late venues against Tuesday’s 100+, which is close to double.
There is an odd compensation in the other direction. A cluster of Friday windows open at 2 PM — a bigger share of early-afternoon starts than any other weekday — because the places that do discount on a Friday tend to open the window earlier to catch people leaving work early. Friday rewards starting at two and punishes starting at nine.
When it runs
Three is the most common opening and four the second. Six is the most common close, then seven.
Read that 6 PM number in context: on a Friday, a 6 PM cutoff at a popular room means you need to be seated well before six, not arriving at it.
Where to look
East Austin and downtown are nearly level on a Friday, and downtown’s second-window habit makes it the better bet if the evening is going to run long. Southeast Austin drops to single figures, its worst day of the week.
