The reason is not mysterious. A happy hour exists to fill a room that would otherwise be quiet, and Saturday evening does not need the help. Most places simply turn the offer off. The corollary — which surprises people more — is that Monday, the emptiest night, has more than double Saturday’s count.
The daytime shift
Saturday’s offers move earlier. A good number of windows open at 11 AM, a larger share than on most weekdays, and the venues that do run something often run it long: eight in the morning to eleven at night, noon to two.
So the practical Saturday plan is not “after-work drinks, but on a weekend.” It is either an early afternoon or a genuinely late night, with a dead zone in between where the city’s happy hours have mostly ended and the ones that remain are the all-day rooms.
