Monday beats Friday, and it isn’t close on price
More places run a Monday happy hour than a Friday one. The gap is small, but the direction surprises people every time, and the reason is straightforward: a bar that is going to be full on Friday has no reason to discount, and a bar that is going to be empty on Monday has every reason to.
You can see it in the depth of the discounts rather than the count. More venues put something at half price on a Monday than on a Friday, and nearly every sub-dollar item we track in Austin (the quarter martini, the fifty-cent wings, the fifty-cent Lone Star) is available at the start of the week.
When it runs
Three is the most common Monday opening and four the second; six is the most common close, then seven. That is the same shape as the rest of the week, so nothing about the timing needs relearning.
