Northeast Austin happy hours
Northeast Austin is the smallest happy hour map in the city: ten places across Mueller, Windsor Park and the 290-East side, carrying eighty deals between them. We are not going to pretend that is a rich list. What is here is mostly reliable rather than exciting — a brewery, a couple of chain bars, two big Tex-Mex rooms — and it is genuinely useful if you live up here and are not driving anywhere.
Where to start
7 of the 10 we track, chosen for a reason rather than a rating. Hours below come straight from our database, not from this article.
-
01 · The most deals in Northeast Austin
- Sun 11 AM–3 PM
- Wed 11 AM–9 PM
- Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri 3–6 PM
10+ of them, on windows running into the evening midweek and through Sunday afternoon, and the most recently confirmed listing we hold up here. A brewery first — the smoked wings are the food to order, and opinion on the rest is mixed.
-
02 · Four-dollar queso
- Mon–Fri 3–6 PM
Chile con queso under four dollars on the largest food-led board in Northeast Austin, and the best-liked room on this list by a wide margin. The margaritas are strong and priced for it.
-
03 · The seafood option
- Mon–Fri 3–6 PM
A short board of eight, but the only raw-bar-adjacent choice out here, and a proper bar area to take it at. Cajun-leaning, and the servers know the menu.
-
04 · 10+ deals, and a proper bar
- Sat, Sun 11–2 AM
- Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri 3–7 PM
- Mon–Wed 3 PM–2 AM
The bar-first option up here rather than a restaurant that happens to have one. Craft beer, a patio and enough screens that a game is always on.
-
05 · Three-dollar pints, eleven until eleven
- Sun 11 AM–10 PM
- Sat 11 AM–11 PM
- Mon–Fri 3–6 PM
Sixteen-ounce Bud Light, Miller Lite and Coors Light at three dollars, on a window covering most of the day. Included for the price and the hours — the food draws more complaints than praise, and we would rather say so.
-
06 · Three-dollar domestics and half-price wine bottles
Pinstack
$$- Wed 10–12 AM
- Mon–Fri 4–7 PM
The only half-price offer in Northeast Austin, attached to the only bowling alley on this list. Games go half price on Tuesdays too, and lanes are first-come once your name is called.

07 · The one that runs every day
- Daily 4–7 PM
The single Northeast Austin venue with a window seven days a week, four to seven. A cantina with karaoke attached, and the cocktails get better notices than you would expect.
When Northeast Austin happy hour actually happens
Nine windows start at 3 PM and seven at 11 AM; seven end at 6 PM. On a list of ten venues those numbers are describing the same handful of places twice, which is the honest way to read them.
Two windows run to midnight and two to 2 AM. Everything else is finished by seven.
A short list, and what to do about it
Ten venues and eighty-odd deals is small. For comparison, East Austin has 100+ venues and 1,000+ deals, and it starts a few minutes’ drive from Mueller.
We would rather say that plainly than inflate this page. If you are up here and the list above does not have what you want, the real answer is to cross into East or Central Austin, both of which are close and both of which have twenty times the choice. The East Austin guide is the one to read next.
What Northeast Austin does have going for it is dependability. The chain rooms up here run the same window every day at the same price, which is not true of most of the more interesting places elsewhere in the city.
Worth knowing
None of the ten discount a non-alcoholic drink, and only three put food on happy hour. If either of those matters, plan on driving.
All 10, sorted by what's live
This page is 7 places and an opinion. The app has every Northeast Austin happy hour we track — 80+ deals — on a map, filtered by the day, the time and what you actually want to eat.
